The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is the agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger with over 194 member states. Our goal is to achieve food security for all and make sure that people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives. Between 1999 and 2011 FAO supported the Timor-Leste government in the areas of emergency operations and early recovery from recurrent crises and natural disasters. Since 2012, FAO has focused more on development activities for furthering food security interventions in the country through various means including policy development, capacity building and programme planning and implementations across all the agriculture sub sectors.
