Present in more than 170 countries and territories, UNDP has a global knowledge network and over 50 years’ experience of working with governments and other partners to help to achieve development results through country owned initiatives. UNDP has been supporting the Timorese people since 1999 to move from post-conflict to recovery. Since the departure of the United Nations Peace-Keeping Mission (UNMIT) in 2012, UNDP has a new mandate and is supporting Timor-Leste’s national priorities, concentrating efforts on good governance, social cohesion and natural resources management. UNDP’s current priorities include innovation and policy development, with a specific focus on youth, to accelerate development solutions and build strong public institutions at national and sub-national levels.
