Assisting 80 million people in around 80 countries each year, the World Food Programme is the largest humanitarian organization fighting hunger worldwide, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. Present in Timor-Leste since 1999, WFP supports the country’s National Action Plan and Strategies on Zero Hunger. In partnership with the Ministry of Health, WFP provides nutritious food and raises awareness on nutrition through social and behaviour change communication for children under the age of five, adolescent girls, and pregnant and nursing women. WFP also provides technical assistance to enhance the nutrition impact of national safety nets programmes and the efficiency of supply chain systems.
