UN Women is the UN organization dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide.  In Timor-Leste, UN Women focuses on turning commitment for gender equality into action and ending violence against women.

The country office works to achieve these goals in partnership with the Government, civil society, private sector stakeholders and development partners.  Our rights-based programming aims to empower women to have income security, decent work and autonomy, and to build sustainable peace and resilience through women’s leadership and decision-making across sectors, including in the prevention of natural disasters and conflicts.
